Roots are a plant's underground support system. They nourish, anchor, and store food and nutrients. Whether planting a tree, practicing a yoga posture, beginning relationships, constructing a building or creating something new, a strong base--support system--encourages growth.
Objectives
- Understand the roots of yoga and how it arrived in the West
- Learn the importance of foundations in yoga postures
- Practice breathing techniques to anchor you on and off your mat
- Explore how a solid foundation on your mat can encourage growth off
- Learn from nature the need for roots, connection, expansion, and cycles
Class Includes
- Theoretical discussion (participation/speaking not required)
- Pranayama (breath control or exercises)
- Postures and flow - active lifestyle recommended, yoga beginners welcome
- Savasana and guided meditation
